Subject: Support for Lake Howard Trail
Mayor Sam Wright,
Billy Beane has advised us of the plans in the making for the multi-use trail at Lake Howard. We wanted you to know that we discussed the project in our November club meeting and agreed unanimously to support the project. We realize that a project of this nature requires more than simply getting the trail cut with machinery and are prepared to pitch in our share of labor to get the trail in shape for riding and walking. We are also aware that maintaining the trail will be even more important. Many of our members are mountain bikers and are very excited about the development of this project. I have helped with the new section of the Pinhoti Trail that was added last year. I had the good fortune of working with a trail maintainer who had spent years working on the Appalachian Trail so I’ve learned a bit about trail maintenance. As a cyclist and hiker I see what a great asset this project would be to our community and look forward to working with you on it.
